As the site encountered obvious technical problems that prevented the video from loading, YouTube fans had to discover two hours of new pastime today.
According to the DownDetector site (monitoring for Internet outages), users started reporting problems before 7pm Eastern Time.
The YouTube website can be accessed during the entire problem period, but clicking on the video will cause a black screen and keep loading circles. There is no solution.
Twitter is the center of complaints, following the development of the #YouTubeDOWN tag.
YouTube acknowledged the problem in a tweet, but did not specify the reason for the interruption. “…We are back, and we apologize for the interruption this time. Thank you for your patience with us. This issue has been fixed on all devices and YouTube services.”
