YouTube confirmed on Wednesday that YouTube had a site-wide problem that prevented the video from loading, and said it was aware of the problem and was working on a solution.

Key facts

Although you can visit the YouTube website, the video will stay on a black screen with endless white loading circles.

According to DownDetector, users started reporting problems around 7pm Eastern Standard Time.

Users flocked to express their frustration during the power outage on Wednesday night, which led to the popularity of the hashtag #YouTubeDOWN and made many jokes about the situation.

YouTube said in a tweet: “If you are having trouble watching videos on YouTube now, you are not alone-our team is aware of this problem and is working to fix it. We will follow up on all updates here .”

This is a developing story.
