YouTube beauty guru James Charles (James Charles) handles allegations of having sex with a minor

YouTube beauty guru James Charles posted a video on Thursday afternoon about his allegations of having sex with underage boys on social media.

In the 15-minute videotape “Accounting for Myself”, Charles apologized to “anyone I was harmed or who I felt uncomfortable with my actions.”

In the video, the 21-year-old makeup artist answered the accusations of two 16-year-old boys who said they exchanged inappropriate information with Charles on social media. A recent article by Vulture details numerous allegations from multiple boys, including 15 years old.

Charles said in the video that he contacted a 1

6-year-old boy last year and the other was the most recent. In both cases, he said he believed the boys were 18 years old, and he admitted to having “frivolous conversations” with them.

He said that he didn’t know until later that the boys were only 16 years old.

Charles said in the video: “As soon as I found out, I immediately felt embarrassed and blocked two people.”

A 16-year-old accuser who asked not to be named had previously denied to Insider that he had lied about Charles’ age.

Charles (Charles) has been involved in multiple scandals throughout his YouTube career. He went on to say that the conversation “should never happen before” and he should do more research on social media so that he can do more research on social media before sending a message to the boy. First find out the actual age of the boy.

He said: “There is no excuse. I do not take full responsibility for this. I believe in the information provided to me, not the information I should have.”

“For those involved in this situation, I want to be sorry.” He added, “I’m sorry, I added you. I’m sorry, I flirted with you. If it makes you uncomfortable, I am deeply sorry.”

Charles said his initial reaction to the allegations was to post another video similar to the one he uploaded in 2019, in which he denied that he was putting pressure on men of the same sex.

“It’s so stupid in retrospect, because when I did more research on these topics and self-reflection, I realized that the receipts and screenshots and the specific details of the interaction really didn’t matter because I kept going,” he said . “And I need to be responsible for my actions.”

He said at the end of the video that he will now romantically ask the identities of everyone he talks to and will temporarily quit social media.
