Warning: Spoiler ahead for Avengers: Infinity War ! Do not read on if you do not want to know what's going on in the latest MCU adventure!
It's no secret that Avengers: Infinity War is a crowded movie. The Marvel Cinematic Universe's latest blockbuster is brimming with heroes and villains and benefits from its ability to explore the subtle nuances of their relationships. One relationship that does not get too much attention is the romance between Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), who began in Avengers: Age of Ultron . When director Joe Russo pointed to this subplot in a recent Happy Sad Confused podcast, he explained that the duo had no closer reunion, as much of their relationship was "unspoken." Russo said:
Remember that Banner and Black Widow have a moment to reunite before the Battle of Wakanda. They meet at Avengers Headquarters in New York and they share a knowing look that means they are fortunate to see themselves as more than just teammates. None of them is particularly good at expressing his or her feelings. So Joe Russo's comments on the Happy Sad Confused podcast have made this short scene reveal the extent of their joy of seeing each other. Years have passed since they saw each other, and it would not be in their characters to have a joyous reunion
The romance between Bruce Banner and Black Widow threw out some fans when it began in Ultron , Apparently away from Liv Tyler's Betty Ross of The Incredible Hulk the MCU Hulk and Widow relocated because of their mutual feelings that their past and life circumstances made them monsters. Amazingly, Marvel nodded to the relationship in Captain America: Civil War and Thor: Ragnarok so it's clear the studio still recognizes the romance, but it does not seem particularly interested in it its a central and superficial narrative element
Another thing worth talking about is the fact that there is another film that completes this story. Avengers: Infinity War can not bend backward to tackle the love story between Bruce and Black Widow, but with Avengers 4 just around the corner it's quite possible that we'll see more Elements of this love story. We already know that the fourth Avengers film will round off an unofficial Hulk trilogy that began in Ragnarok so it's easy to assume that Joe and Anthony Russo will accommodate more Creating Scenes Bruce Banner and Natasha Romanoff
