In the middle of last year, Sony’s Vision-S electric car changed from a mere prototype to something the company expressed hopes to be closer to reality. Sony announced in July that it plans to test the vehicle on public roads before the end of 2020.Sony said that although it did not substantially update the EV in the CES 2021 keynote, it said it had begun EV testing in Europe in December and shared footage of cars driving on picturesque Austrian roads- The company’s recently announced Airpeak drone also appears in the video
When Sony first demonstrated S-Vision at the 2020 International Consumer Electronics Show, it said it would show its technology to companies in the automotive industry. The prototype we saw at the exhibition is equipped with two 200kW engines and can accelerate to 62 MPH in 4.8 seconds. Sony said at the time that the car also has level 2 autonomous driving capabilities, but it plans to make it more autonomous in the future.
