The Washington football team will not change its name until the 2022 season, but the process will be documented through the newly launched website WashingtonJourney.com.
The website states: “We have transitioned from the original name. Now it is time to write a new legacy.”
The franchise was carefully designed and followed a five-stage timetable. The final stage of the implementation is to announce a new name that will last “the next 100 years.”
The site also provides fans with an opportunity to come up with ideas for new names, including proposals such as General, Justice and Rhino.
The organization retired the previous name (which is a racial discrimination against Native Americans) in the last offseason until it was announced in July that it would be used by the Washington football team until a permanent name was chosen.
