Chapel Hill, North Carolina – Armando Bakot scored a key back-up basket in the 1:22 final to help North Carolina beat Syracuse at the Smith Center to an 81-75 victory.
In the running game, UNC (8-4, 3-2) rushed to the end with a high of 10-2 in the last three minutes and regained the lead. Tar Heels finished the game with 8 of 9 free throws and won the third consecutive ACC game.
UNC opened the second half with a 9-0 score, but Syracuse’s 13-0 response countered the game. Tar high heels met Orange with their 13-0 explosive power. A few minutes later, the visiting team meticulously planned an 8-0 game, leading 68-67 with a 3:21 advantage.
UNC’s shooting percentage is 39.7%, which is the third time in a row that it has failed to reach the 40% threshold. Orange missed 13 shots and hit 46.7%. UNC averaged 1.17 points per round, while Syracuse had 1.09 points.
Tar high heels surpassed opponents 48-31. Their 18-10 assist turnover is the biggest this season.
Starting center Bourama Sidibe was still off the court after damaging the meniscus in November. Jim Boeheim relied on the 6-foot-10, 201-pound Marek Dolezaj to reach the middle of his area again. UNC’s focus on the low post allowed Garrison Brooks to achieve his best performance of the season, as the ACC preseason player of the year scored his first double-double with 5 of 12 shots, 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Bacot (15 points, 12 rebounds) and Day’Ron Sharpe (8 points, 4 rebounds) are also beneficiaries. Tar Heels rebounded 53.3% of their turnovers and surpassed Orange (24-4) with a second chance.
The leaking black locked
Buddy Boeheim lit up UNC in the first half, scoring 18 points on 7 of 12 free throws (3FG of 4 of 7 free throws). Leaking Black (5 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists) increased his defensive efforts after the intermission, effectively preventing Boimme from coming and missed three quarters to Syracuse within 20 minutes. Junior score.
Harris is coming back
The most fascinating development on Tuesday was related to players who were not actually in the game. Sophomore guard Anthony Harris (Anthony Harris) is out wearing for the first time this season, heralding potential returns in the coming days. He has not participated in the game since the ACL tore at Yale University on December 30, 2019.
Since the 24 rebounds against Pittsburgh on February 25, 2017, UNC has had the most offensive rebounds against the ACC team in 24 games. https://t.co/PMXwBuRxFR

Crash in the second half
When Williams implemented a four-man substitution, the Tar Heels led 36:26, leaving five thirds, Williams (Love-Platek-Bacot-Kessler) and Kevin Walton (Love-Platek-Bacot) -Kessler) replaces Blake Davis Sharp Brooks. Syracuse had a 10-2 advantage in the next 2:05, scoring 4 points in the next 5 rounds.
Six of the Orange team’s last seven field goal attempts ended the half game with a score of 14-4.
UNC traveled to Tallahassee on Saturday to compete in the Florida State University game, which is the fourth road race in six ACC games. The Seminoles (5-2, 1-1 ACC) have lost two of the last three after winning four consecutive championships this season.
