According to a report, the babies of two mothers who died of the COVID-19 virus in Israel have also tested positive for the coronavirus-at least one death has been attributed to an infectious disease.
The Times of Israel said a woman who was 36 weeks pregnant with COVID-19 lost her unborn child at the Mel Medical Center in Kfar Saba on Saturday.
Tests showed that the fetus was also infected, but the hospital did not immediately attribute the pandemic’s death to the pandemic.
However, it was reported that in an almost identical case last week, it was alleged that the cause of death was when a 29-year-old woman lost her child in Ashdod at 25 weeks of pregnancy.
“The fetus was infected through the placenta with a high degree of certainty. [we can say] Died from the coronavirus,”
The report says this is the first such case reported in Israel, although Brazil has mentioned other cases before.
“This is a rare situation, because babies are usually infected with the coronavirus from contact with their mother after birth,” said Dr. Yussi Tobin, director of the hospital’s obstetrics and gynecology department.
“The fact that we were able to find that they were already positive in the womb shows that [the fetus] Died due to coronavirus. “
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends vaccination for pregnant women, but in most cases it lists health hazards for the mother rather than the unborn child.
The CDC warned: “Pregnant women with COVID-19 may face an increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes (such as preterm birth).”
