Authorities said three police officers in Wichita, Kansas were injured in a possible explosion on Saturday and they were sent to an empty house for inspection.
The Wichita Police Department tweeted that a police officer was seriously injured and stabilized in the hospital. The Department of Health said that the other two were slightly injured and have also been admitted to the hospital.
The police said that the SWAT team was “activated” as part of the department’s response to the incident, which occurred after it was dispatched at 4 pm. The bomb squad of the department is also at the address.
The ATF tweeted that agents of the Federal Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Administration were at the scene.
Wichita police said: “This is still a positive situation.”
According to KSNW, a subsidiary of NBC, the house is located in the southern part of downtown Wichita.
