The Wallace family shouted after seeing the body shot by the Philadelphia police

A black family killed by police in Philadelphia this week caused violent riots for several nights. On Thursday, after watching a camera of the deadly encounter, justice was demanded, but no murder charge was filed.

Kathy Brant, Walter Wallace Jr’s mother, said: “I want to see justice done to my son.”

On Monday, Wallace was shot dead by two police officers near West Philadelphia. His family said that at the age of 27, he was suffering from a mental health crisis.

Shaka Johnson, a lawyer for the Wallace family, told reporters: “I see a person in a clear mental health crisis.” “My hearing heard people shouting,’He is mentally ill, he is Mental illness.'”

Johnson said the family did not want the officer to face murder.

Johnson said: “This is why, this is the reason: they are not properly trained, and they don’t have the proper equipment to do the job.”

Philadelphia released a police body camera tripod, Walter Wallace (WALTER WALLACE) 911 call.shooting

Authorities said Wallace was armed with a knife and sued the police officer when he was shot. Johnson said that the video showed that the officer immediately reached for a weapon instead of trying to escalate the situation.

He said the video is about 30 to 40 seconds long. These videos are expected to be released to the public sometime in the future.

Wallace’s father, Walter Wallace Sr., criticized the mayor of Philadelphia, Jim Kenny, for his reaction to the shooting.

He said: “This mayor, he is a coward. Anyone who serves the people, he will come here… come here to talk to you.” “That’s not his child. He doesn’t need to bury anyone. He doesn’t know. What is pain and suffering.”

The police said the two officers fired at least seven shots at Wallace. There is no taser.

Johnson said: “None of the 14 shots is necessary, but if you are going to shoot, the first shot will disable the person.” “Next there are 13 shots, which is why he is no longer with us Up.”

He also questioned the distance between the officer and Wallace, which he said was longer than the captain.

The Philadelphia Police Department said it did not know whether the responders were aware of Wallace’s mental health issues. Earlier in the day, officials had responded to the house twice.

The shooting triggered several nightly protests and riots, clashes between demonstrators and police, and businesses were ransacked. On Thursday, the city council voted 14 to 3 to ban the use of rubber bullets, tear gas and other crowd control tools against protesters in response to criticism of police tactics.

The police arrested 40 people in connection with the riots on Wednesday night, including 4 suspects of assaulting the police and 29 suspects of theft.

Police Chief Danielle Outlaw said on Wednesday that the officer was injured by bricks, rocks, water bottles and other objects (including what appeared to be blood).

Johnson said the city has bankrupted the Wallace family and the police station.

“Not only did the city fail, the Wallace family, not only the other members of the community, they would be traumatized and traumatized for the rest of the day, but the city also failed the police, which made them greatly It failed,” he said. “At the moment they think about it, the only remedy for the police is to use their service weapons. No other lethal actions are available. This is our war cry since Tuesday.”
