The Phoenix Suns will be selected to the All-Stars this season, but there is a good example. They should have two. Although point guard Chris Paul was appointed to the Western Conference All-Star Reserve player on Tuesday, shooting guard Devin Booker was not.
Competitive Shams Charania first reported the news.
For the second year in a row, Booker was not selected for the All-Star Reserve roster. He replaced Portland̵
His scoring average this season has declined, but his efficiency has improved. Booker averaged 24.7 points, 4.3 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game, while shooting a career-high 50%. His three-point shooting percentage also reached 38%.
Booker performed strongly in the 20th to 10th games, and they won 12 of the last 14 games until Tuesday. His monthly average reflects his steady growth this year. His average score in December was 20.2 points, his average score in January was 24.3 points, and his average score so far in February was 26.8 points.
Before Phoenix beat the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night, the vote for the All-Star Reserve team had expired, and Booker’s 34 points exploded in 29 minutes highlighted his impact on the team as the team won the second consecutive game. Win 30+ points to win.
“There is no doubt,” head coach Monty Williams (Monty Williams) said after a 132-100 victory. “No one can argue that Book is not an All-Star. The story ends.”
In his 16th NBA season, Paul ranked sixth in assists per game (8.5), including 19 assists against the Pelicans on Friday night, making him number one on the league roster.
Paul, who was acquired from the Oklahoma City Thunder in the offseason, averaged 16.6 points, 8.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 49% from the field and 40% from the field.
Paul entered the All-Star Game 10 times this season. He made an annual pilgrimage from 2008 to 2016, and played again in Oklahoma City last season.
Paul will join starting guards Stephen Curry and Luka Doncic, as well as starting frontcourt players LeBron James, Nikola Jokic and Kawhi Leonard, to join this year’s Western Conference All-Star lineup.
The NBA All-Star Game will be held at the Atlanta State Farm Arena on Sunday, March 7.
