The Greensboro family home was split in half by tropical storm Zeta

Greensboro, North Carolina — Ken Snowden and his family knew they were lucky to be alive after a tree hit the second floor of the house on Thursday morning and trapped Kane for nearly 20 minutes.

When Tropical Storm Zeta crossed Scott Street in Greensboro, it destroyed four large trees around Ken’s family home.

A tree fell on the wire in the front yard. Another fell on another tree in the backyard, and a large tree fell from the second floor of the house.

Ken said, “It’s very noisy and you can’t figure out what̵

7;s going on, and then you go,’This is bad,'”

In the room upstairs, he missed the opportunity to be seized by the three-foot tall tree.

His wife and mother-in-law were saved by the weight of the tree supported by the ceiling on the first floor in other rooms of the house.

According to the family, home repairs may take six months.

In the chaos, they found a light at the end of a long dark tunnel with the help of their neighbors.

They were also able to find a cat trapped in the wreckage for nearly 36 hours.
