Google is bringing design, search and messaging updates for Android Auto, while Volvo has announced plans for Play Store, Google Assistant and Google Maps for its new Android-based infotainment system.
Google and Volvo are making progress on a partnership announced at last year's I / O conference to integrate Android and Play Store apps directly into vehicles, so that even without an Android smartphone, Volvo drivers can download Android Auto Have experience.

Volvo will embed its future Android-based Sensus infotainment system into Google apps and vehicle services, including Google Assistant and the Play Store, along with thousands of auto-optimized Android apps.
Volvo will also replace its own navigation system with Google Maps, delivering real-time data and up-to-date map information to the dashboard.
Volvo drivers can use Google Assistant to control apps, respond to messages, and customize vehicle features such as air conditioning. According to Volvo, the new integration will only be available in "a few years".
App developers would win by being able to deliver apps not just to existing Android car users, but also to Android-embedded drivers embedded in vehicles.
While vehicle manufacturers refuse to give infotainment systems full control of Google and Apple, Volvo believes it will integrate Android into its vehicles, boosting its own apps and connected services.
Prior to its meeting on Android Automotive at I / O, Google today announced some updates for Android Auto.
Google provides developers with new visual templates that allow them to design apps for use in infotainment systems. Google promises that the templates will help bring searchable content to the forefront when users open a music app that makes it easy to select songs or podcasts.
Media apps like Spotify can now integrate search results directly into Android Auto, making it easier for drivers to find related titles that are currently playing. Android Auto also receives Rich Communication Services or RCS, support and group messaging support via Google Assistant.
Developers on I / O can preview Volvo's future infotainment system in the current XC40, as well as Google Apps and popular messaging and music apps have been adapted for use in the car.
