Since Nate McMillan (Nate McMillan) replaced Lloyd Pierce (Lloyd Pierce), the Atlanta Hawks have been running. With the defeat of the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday, the Eagles have risen to 1

3-4 since McMillan took over, but even they can’t predict how hot they will become in the third quarter of their recent victory.

At halftime, the Eagles and Pelicans tied for 61 points. Both teams averaged more than 30 points per season. Not too shabby. Then Atlanta took things to a new level. Due to their historic shooting percentage, they dropped 46 points in the third quarter. Within 12 minutes of forming the third quarter, the Hawks made 11 of 11 three-pointers.

Not surprisingly, the Eagles set the team’s record for the most three-pointers made in a quarter. The Cleveland Cavaliers had previously held this record 9-9, so the Hawks took some breathing opportunities to break this record. Throughout the game, the Eagles trailed by three-pointers in 20 of 31 attempts, with a shooting percentage of 64.1%. They scored 123 points in the game. Considering their explosive third quarter, the total scoring is somewhat trivial, but since the fourth quarter is actually just garbage time, Atlanta barely needs to score more than 16 points.

This level of shooting is clearly unsustainable, but it is an appropriate reflection of their recent success. The Eagles became healthier and joking in due course. Tuesday was their best offensive game of the season, but they should continue to develop from here.
