TERRE HAUTE, IN – The Police Department of Terre Haute announced on Monday that commemorative bangles for Officer Rob Pitts are now being offered for sale. Officials say that the bracelets honoring Officer Pitts, who was killed on May 4 while investigating a murder in the Garden Quarter Apartments, are $ 2 each and can be picked up at the division headquarters. Monday was also the day of Officer Pitts' young son's return for the first time since his father's death to Sullivan Elementary School.
Monday was also the day. Terre Haute's WTHI reports that his five-year-old son Dakota Pitts has asked his mother if one of his father's friends could drive him on his first day of school.
However, when Dakota arrived at school, WTHI reported that he was greeted by 70 Terre Haute police officers and Vigo County sheriff's deputies who were there waiting for him (see below).

"He'll definitely know his father was a hero," said Pitts sister Kelli Jones to WTHI. "Blood does not always make family and I think the blue family went way beyond."
According to WTHI, the SWAT team Dakota gave its own SWAT T-shirt and badge.
What started when Pitts wife just stretched out For Rob's friends and families, it was a whole group that was touring for their son.
