Take a virtual ride on the Mercedes-Benz EQS electric car



The Mercedes-Benz EQS is the brand’s first electric car and will go into production later this year. So far, the electric flagship sedan seems impressive. In addition to the stunning MBUX Hyperscreen, EQS has a WLTP range of up to 770 kilometers (479 miles).

We still have a lot of unknowns about the new EV, but the video above will give us a better idea. Our own Kyle Conner and Dr. Fabian Wuttke, head of Daimler’s sedan development project, took a virtual ride together. While sailing in Stuttgart, Dr. Wuttke discussed how the entire vehicle architecture was developed from the ground up, rather than based on ICE vehicles, which may be the main reason for its efficiency. Another thing that helps improve EQS efficiency is its very low 0.20 Cd, which the brand claims is the lowest of all mass-produced models.

The charging curve should remain relatively flat until 80%. After the EPA has rated the EQS, it will be lower than the WLTP rating and may be within 400 miles.

The version he drove produced a total power of 385 kW (516 hp) through the front and rear electric motors and a torque of 828 Nm (611 lb-ft). He said that this big car will reach a speed of 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.3 seconds and can be launched multiple times. Even soon, Dr. Wuttke emphasized the comfort of EQS. The brand wants to uphold the ultimate comfort tradition of the S-Class, which means that Mercedes is focusing on reducing NVH (noise, vibration and roughness) and overall comfort levels.
