The Standard Hotel in West Hollywood on the Sunset Strip Celebrity Video Party is scheduled to close on Friday, ending 22 years of operation. This is where many Hollywood parties are held.
The venue was previously owned by the hotelier Andre Balazs, who also owns the nearby Chateau Marmont, which was opened in 1999 by Leonardo DiCapri Opened with funding from Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz and Benicio del Toro. The site’s showbiz roots are rooted in its interior, originally created by film set designer Shawn Hausman.

Balazs sold his interest in the property and its management company in 2017. There are five hotels in the United States called The Standard, including two hotels in Hollywood, Downtown Los Angeles, Miami and New York. The Covid-19 pandemic has severely hurt the hotel industry. The landlord of the hotel is a Spanish real estate investment company and could not be immediately contacted for comment on the hotel’s plans.
