Sixth-New data shows that leading covid-19 vaccines have similar high efficacy | Graphic details

A kind Months In the past, the biggest question about covid-19 vaccines was whether any of them would work. Today, there are too many problems in certain countries to choose from. In Europe, some people refuse AstraZeneca̵

This preference stems from the results of clinical trials. The efficacy of Moderna and Pfizer, which make the same type of vaccine, is 94-95%, while the efficacy of Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca is 63-6%. French President Emmanuel Macron once regarded AstraZeneca’s jab as “quasi-ineffective” for elderly patients.

However, the reported efficacy gap may be more indicative of the test than the test itself. Some studies treat people with mild symptoms as positive cases. No one else. Patients with reported lower efficacy have participated in the study in the following countries/regions where some immune resistance variants are used: SARSCThisvolt-2 is common. One person only tested the single-dose regimen.

Fortunately, comparisons can now be made, based on people who have received millions of different vaccines in the same country at the same time. The latest data from the United Kingdom has used needles for 20 million people at Pfizer or AstraZeneca, which is completely different from the test results. Three studies have shown that a single dose of two needles is equally effective.

Latest papers, preprints Lancet In a paper published on March 3, it was found that starting from 14 days after vaccination, people who are at least 80 years old taking one dose of two jabs can prevent 80% of hospitalizations. Another study in Scotland included younger age groups and also found that the two jabs were similar in effectiveness to hospitalization.

This is bad news for viruses that are looking for a new host-it will only get worse. Few people in the UK have received a second dose. However, Israel has almost completed its two-dose mass vaccination program using Pfizer vaccine. According to the latest data from Israel, about 90% of the two doses are protective against any form of covid-19 (including asymptomatic infections).

Pfizer’s pokes are expensive and must be stored in the freezer. In contrast, AstraZeneca is cheap and only requires regular refrigeration. If AstraZeneca’s vaccine can also be compared with Pfizer’s efficacy, it now seems likely that it can play a leading role in stopping this pandemic.
