Unfortunately, Dr. Sarah Jarvis (Sarah Jarvis) said that all drugs have side effects on some people, and statins are no exception.
She continued: “In the short term, the most common side effects are related to your digestive system-bloating, diarrhea, stomach pain, etc.
These usually resolve within a few weeks and can usually be reduced by starting a lower dose and increasing as the side effects resolve.
“For example, when using simvastatin, the standard dose is 40 mg. I usually tell my patients to take half a tablet within half a week and increase to a full tablet once the side effects disappear.”
