See where Zac Wheeler is sick in Philadelphia

Two aspects of the shortened 2020 season will hurt the Philadelphians: static playoff territory and brutal MLB schedule format.

It has always been thought that this year’s playoffs will be expanded from 10 to 16. The playoffs are a huge profit for Major League Baseball. More teams means more games means more income.

But the Major League Baseball and the Players Association have been unable to reach a financial agreement for several months, which has led the league to unilaterally implement a season. The expanded playoff field is a bargaining chip for trade unions, and we will not see it in 2020. The playoffs will remain the same-three division titles and two wild cards in each league.

The Phillies may still be behind the Nationals and Warriors, but they will benefit from NL̵

7;s eight teams in the playoffs. If all 15 NL teams are ranked, the Phillies may check in between 5 and 8, at least behind the Dodgers, Nats, Braves and Cardinals.

Also hurting the Philadelphians is the number of games they played against the East Coast team. To limit travel, the Major League Baseball (MLB) keeps the team in their geographic area. This means that the Phillies will have a lot of NL East and AL East, which may be the two toughest departments in baseball.

In the east of NL, the nationals, the brave and the Mets are threatened. In the east of AL, the Yankees, Ray and Red Sox were threatened. The Phillies will play 42 of 60 games with these teams.

The Yankees have the deepest lineup in the American League-strength, good starting shots, and excellent bullpens. They won 103 games last season, then signed Gerrit Cole, played 20-5, 2.50 ERA, 326 knockout season.

Ray won 96 games last season. Their top three starters-Black Snell, Taylor Glassno and Charlie Morton-are as indestructible as any team’s top three. Their bullpen is full of hard throwers and big hitters like Nick Anderson, Jose Alvarado and Diego Castillo.

Even after trading off Mookie Betts, the Red Sox will still be hit. The first half of their lineup-Andrew Benintendi (Andrew Benintendi), Rafael Devers (Rafael Devers), Xander Bogaerts, J.D. Martinez is still dangerous.

Then there is the defending champions Nationals, who have 3 A’s, two best players in the NL East in the Warriors, and the Mets, who have defeated the Phillies in seven games in the past eight years .

Those six teams-Yankees, Rays, Red Sox, Naz, Warriors, Metropolis-won an average of 93 games last season. Both Boston (Bates) and Washington (Anthony Lundon) have lost perennial MVP candidates, but the other four teams have been improved or maintained.

Hey, at least Philadelphians can get marlins and orioles. Maybe Phils will really deal with Fish this year.
