San Francisco 49ers need free agent for 2021 NFL draft

The draft needs of the 49ers have not yet been determined, and free agents have yet to be resolved. Depending on the player who eventually quit, this list may cause a lot of changes. In fact, some adjustments have been made based on our mid-season check-in.

In our mid-season survey of draft needs, the corner formation was the headline news of the group. It is no longer at the top of the list, and the defender retires to support another position.

Before making any free agency decisions, here is the new list:

The 49ers always need urgent help, but there is news that Dee Ford may not be back next season because his back injury makes it necessary to solve this problem. San Francisco’s defense thrived while putting pressure on the quarterback. Even in the post-Robert Saleh era, this will still be the case. Nick Bosa is their only contract player for next season, and finding affordable talent in the draft will help.

There is an argument that cornerback should be at the top of the list. 49 people did not sign a contract in 2021. However, they should be able to keep a couple in the free agent market with cheap deals to help reduce the urgency of selecting one in the draft. Ahkello Witherspoon may have reached a new agreement with San Francisco. Emmanuel Moseley may also come back at a cheaper price. Even if it is not on the priority list, it is still a considerable demand.

Quarterback

This has nothing to do with Jimmy Garoppolo, but with backups and long-term situations. Garoppolo’s health is a real problem, and San Francisco needs to be upgraded with the support of beginners. Ideally, they will upgrade in QB2 and also hire a player who can develop for more than a year or two. If Gallopolo never improves the ideas of John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan, he can take over as the starters. . Unless they like a potential customer, they don’t need to draft a quality assurance letter on the first day. Although in the short and long term, it makes sense to take that path the next day.

Part of the 49ers’ offensive dilemma this season is due to the inconsistent play styles of center and right back. Maybe Weston Richburg is healthy enough to start the season, but if Richburg can’t play, they still need depth and better answers on the starting point. Although San Francisco may not solve these problems as soon as possible, they should take a variety of measures to give themselves as many opportunities as possible to increase beginners and improve quality.

Since joining Joe Williams of Utah in the fourth round of 2017, these 49ers have not yet been drafted. It was a disaster. However, 2021 should be the year when they re-dipped their toes in the water. The injury forced them to fall into the depth chart in 2020, and obviously they need more talent in that position. Despite San Francisco’s success in undrafted rookies, they need to find a player who has a chance to become number one in the next few years. It is hard to find just swinging on undrafted free agents. It doesn’t have to be early, but the 49ers should try again in the 2021 draft.

Safety

Jaquiski Tartt will become a free agent, which may make the 49ers seek a strong start with safety. Tarvarius Moore’s game later this year should make him line up for next season’s starting job, but San Francisco needs depth either way. The draft pick on Day 3 was strong and meaningful.
