San Diego Petco Vaccine Super Vaccination Station closed Saturday due to nationwide vaccine shortages – NBC 7 San Diego

The county spokesperson confirmed to NBC 7 that the Petco Park vaccine super station in San Diego will be closed again on Saturday due to the lack of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine nationwide.

The county spokesperson said the closure will continue until Tuesday.

This is the second time a supply interruption has forced a suspension of one of San Diego̵

7;s largest vaccination sites. Dave Summers of NBC 7 has more.

The spokesperson said that appointments for the second dose will be rescheduled automatically. Those affected by the delay are advised to check their MyUCSDChart account or look for an email with detailed information about their new appointment date.

Petco Park only manages Moderna vaccines. There is no information on how this nationwide shortage will affect vaccination locations elsewhere.

This is also the second weekend that Petco Park vaccine field is facing closure.

Last week, extreme winter weather in parts of the United States delayed the delivery of the dose.

A few days ago, the county also announced that employees in the schools, education and childcare sectors; non-medical emergency responders and workers in the food and agriculture sector will be eligible for vaccinations starting on Saturday.
