Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S10: Price
Samsung chose to launch the Galaxy S21 series at a lower price this year, and many people think the S20 series is too expensive. The lowest price is the Galaxy S21 with 128GB of storage space, priced at $799. Plus $50 USD to get a 256GB version. At the same time, the basic model S21 Plus is priced at $999, while the 256GB version is priced at $50.
So for the Plus model, Samsung will keep the starting price at $999, but the S21 is $100 cheaper than the S10 at the time of its release. Of course, last year, Samsung lowered the prices of the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus to US$749 and US$849, respectively. Since then, prices have fallen further.
Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S10: Design
Samsung changed its design language through the S20 series and improved the S21. The rear camera is restricted to a corner on the back instead of a bar. The front camera cutout is located at the top center, not to one side. In short, there are still some similarities between the two device series, but you really have to look for them.
S10 and S10 Plus have many interesting and weird color options, especially yellow, while S21 and S21 Plus retain more colors, namely Phantom Violet, Phantom Gray, Phantom Pink (S21), Phantom Black (S21 Plus) and Phantom white (S21) color.
S21 and S21 Plus are heavier than S10 and S10 Plus-in fact, S21 is almost as heavy as S10 Plus. The thickness of all these phones is the same at 0.31 inches, but the S21 and S21 Plus are larger at 6 x 2.8 inches and 6.4 x 3 inches, respectively. Compare it with the 5.9 x 2.77 inch S10 and the 6.2 x 2.92 inch S10 Plus. This is a moderate difference, especially considering that the batteries in the S21 and Plus are larger than those in the S10 and S10 Plus.
Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S10: display
Samsung has had some of the best smartphone displays for years, but with the S20 series, it has a high refresh rate. For Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus, it reduces the resolution to Full HD (1080p), but provides a variable refresh rate up to 120Hz. Therefore, although the total resolution is not as high as the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus, the S21 and S21 Plus can always be locked at 120Hz or adaptively lowered to save battery.
Appeared before the high refresh rate of smartphones became mainstream, the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus were QHD and locked at 60Hz. The displays on these phones are still incredible, but once you see Android displaying at 90 frames per second or higher (120fps for S21/Plus), it’s hard to get back to 60 frames. The difference is very obvious, because it is better.
Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S10: Camera
Samsung insists on using triple camera settings on the S21 and S21 Plus, which is the same as Galaxy Note 20 —Although the telephoto lens has been improved. It now has 3x optical zoom, while the S10 and S10 Plus are only 2x, while Samsung’s Space Zoom feature can produce 30x photos on newer phones. Quite impressive.
All these phones are equipped with ultra-wide-angle lenses, which can take vivid photos, especially in natural scenes. The huge difference may be due to software-driven camera features, such as the crazy space zoom function, which can provide you with 30x zoom photos, or the super stable mode that uses AI to keep the video stable. Samsung may backport some of them to the S10 series at some point in the future. Currently, if smartphone photography is important to you and you are loyal to Samsung, then this is an upgrade.
For the front camera, all four phones have a 10MP sensor, although the Galaxy S10 Plus has an additional 8MP sensor. If selfie games are important to you, although for most people, the difference in photo quality from S10 and S10 Plus may not be obvious, for S21 and S21 Plus, you won’t be disappointed, especially when you post to After on social media.
Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S10: Performance
It seems obvious, but the performance indicators between the S21 and S10 series will be very different. The new Snapdragon 888 in the Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus is a beast, the best CPU in the Android field. On the contrary, S10 and S10 Plus shocked Snapdragon 855, which is not bad for most people, but it is two years older than Snapdragon 888. S21 is just for performance improvement.
Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus are the fastest Android phones we have tested. We Galaxy S21 benchmark If you are interested check it out. With 8GB of RAM, you will not find anything that the S21 and S21 Plus cannot do with smartphones. The high-end version of the S10 Plus comes with 12GB RAM, which may help keep more applications in the memory. That being said, we believe that most of you will be satisfied with S21 / Plus 8GB.
The storage capacity of all these phones starts at 128GB. S21 and S21 Plus can reach up to 256GB, while S10 can reach up to 512GB. This is not even the same as the top S10 Plus: up to 1TB. All of these are located on the top of the microSD card slot, which the S21 series lacks. Therefore, if you store everything on your phone and choose the 512GB or 1TB option on S10 or S10 Plus, you may want to find a backup solution elsewhere when upgrading to S21 or S21 Plus.
Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S10: battery and charging
Both the Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus have larger batteries than the S10. The smaller S21 has a 4,000 mAh battery, while the S10 has a 3,400 mAh; the S21 Plus has a battery capacity of 4,800 mAh, and the S10+ has a 4,100 mAh battery.
The S21 series is not only a larger battery, but also paired with the more energy-efficient Snapdragon 888. Samsung also talked about the new AI features of the S21 and S21 Plus, claiming that it will learn how you use it. And adjust the power consumption accordingly.
The S21 series has a 25W fast charging function, which means you can recharge your phone quickly, assuming you buy a charger separately because the charger is not included with the phone. S10 and S10 Plus can see 15W charging right out of the box (S10 5G has 25W fast charging).
It is worth noting that none of the Galaxy S21 phones are equipped with a charger, so in order to get a complete fast charging experience, you need to purchase a charging brick separately. Some people have argued about reducing electronic waste and packaging, but we understand why some people might find this decision annoying.
Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S10: the bottom line
If you are still using the Galaxy S10 or S10 Plus, the S21 and S21 Plus are ideal choices for you to upgrade. You will get a better display, 5G, improved camera, faster charging speed and larger battery. Not only that, you will also get the latest products provided by Qualcomm using the Snapdragon 888 processor.
The jump from the S20 series is much smaller, so unless you really want Samsung’s latest products, you won’t miss a lot of things. However, what is surprising is what impact two years can have on smart phone technology.
The S21 and S21 Plus do not include a charger, which is a shame, but what is really shocking is the removal of the microSD card slot. Why Samsung did this is still a mystery, but it’s not meant to make some of you like it. If you must have expandable storage, it is best to stick to the S10 or S10 Plus, or buy one of the S20 phones as soon as the price drops.
Even so, it is not surprising that the Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus are better than the S10 cousins. If you are going to upgrade, these may be the Samsung models that ultimately prompted you to make cell phone transactions.
