New rough rumors have surfaced based on some images that may be the new hardware of the next-generation AirPods Pro. Speculation about the two sizes of AirPods Pro 2 comes from Mr. White. He does not have a very reliable track record, but has access to unreleased Apple hardware and can predict some things correctly in the past.
Rumored second-generation AirPods Pro hardware
Mr. White is here to show off what he called the AirPods Pro components. The cable length between the two components on the left is obviously different, which may be the same as the second-generation AirPods Pro. The two about the same size on the right appear to be the same components of the existing AirPods Pro.
Mr. White didn̵
Bloomberg shared a report in October stating that Apple “plans” to remove the new AirPods Pro by removing the stems to make the shape more sleek and fit. However, so far, we have not heard other reports about the two sizes.
Possibility of AirPods Pro 2
One possibility here is that Mr. White started experimenting with prototype hardware that doesn’t necessarily have to go into production. Bloomberg warned that because it is difficult to pack antennas, ANCs, microphones, etc. into a more compact form factor, Apple may choose an “ambitious” design than AirPods Pro 2 hopes.
Moreover, since AirPods Pro has been equipped with earplugs and in-ear fitting devices of various sizes, it is not clear what the value of the next-generation AirPods Pro in two sizes is. However, there will always be outside opportunities for Mr. White to change his mind.
Another possibility is that different sized hardware may be used for the redesigned AirPods 3 and possibly the smaller AirPods Pro 2.
As for the W2 chip, AirPods Pro (AirPods and AirPods Max) uses the H1 chip, which is the successor to the W1 chip used in the old version of AirPods. We haven’t seen the W2 chip yet, so Mr. White, based on his comment “still W2 chip”, can predict that the next generation of AirPods Pro will stick to H1.
Black AirPods Pro 2?
Another interesting tidbit is Mr. White’s answer to the question about AirPods Pro 2 black. Again, this may be just a guess, but it is certainly something that interests many people. Mr. White did not elaborate on why he thinks black is not suitable for AirPods.
This speculation of Mr. White and a grain of salt are a good idea. He must have a messy record. For example, he came into contact with Apple on the 20W power adapter launched this year, but mistakenly predicted that it will be provided with the iPhone 12. Of course, now we know that Apple stopped completely including the power adapter and sold the new 20W model separately.
Mr. White also shared an unpublished photo of a braided lightning cable with others, which some people think may appear with the iPhone 12. It still hasn’t started, at least it hasn’t started yet.
Apple’s next-generation AirPods and AirPods Pro are expected to debut in 2021.
