Roku OS 9.4 now launches AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support

Roku’s next platform update has arrived. The company explained in a press release that version 9.4 is about to be launched to “choose 4K Roku devices”, which includes Roku Ultra players, Roku Streambar, Roku Smart Soundbar, Roku Streaming Stick+ and Roku Premiere. (Oh my God, the company has made a lot of hardware recently…) Then, software updates should be delivered to compatible TVs in the “next days”. Version 9.4 introduces a guide to live TV channels, which covers free streaming media products and, if an antenna is connected, also air broadcast channels. It also provides more control for people with multi-channel speaker setups.

However, the biggest change is for users with iPhone, iPad or Mac. Roku OS 9.4 works perfectly with Apple̵

7;s AirPlay 2 standard, providing you with another way to find and view your favorite content in the living room. The update also includes support for HomeKit, so you can command commands through the Home app or Siri. Finally, my colleague Richard Lawler reported that this update resolved his frustrating audio synchronization issue when using 4K Roku TV with a soundbar and external players such as Apple TV or Xbox One. I’m sure that this will make him very happy because he opened his X series today (not something I am jealous of…)
