The gunman opened fire in a bowling alley in Illinois, killing three people and injuring three others. Authorities believe this was a random attack.
Police said a “person of interest” was detained after a shooting in Don Carter Lane in Rockford, about 80 miles (128 kilometers) northwest of Chicago, on Saturday night.
Rockford Police Chief Dan O’Shea said at a news conference that the two people shot were teenagers.

According to records dating back to 1965, the Rockford Celebrity Meteor reported that 2020 was the worst year for killings in the city. This year, 35 people were killed in the city, breaking the 1996 record of 31 people.
