Reports of quarterback Deshaun Watson’s dissatisfaction with Texans have attracted attention this week, which has sparked speculation about whether Watson will promote the Houston trade.
After ESPN Chris Mortensen issued a report on Sunday, this speculation is unlikely to end. Mortensen responded to other reports and Watson was frustrated because the team did not interview Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy about the Chiefs’ vacant position.
Watson’s dissatisfaction with the organization did not lead to trade demands at this time, but Mortensen reported that he could be “tough” on someone if he wanted to. Watson’s contract contained a trade prohibition clause, and Mortensen reported that he would consider sending him to a dolphin deal.
That deal is likely to include Tua Tagovailoa’s trip to Houston with other compensation. That compensation may include a first-round or second-round pick for the revolver tackler Rayleigh Tonsil sent to Miami by the Texans, although until Watson announces what he wants and how the Texans react. It is insinuation.
