Recall ceiling fans sold at Home Depot because the blades may rotate

More than 190,000 ceiling fans sold by Home Depot are recalled because these blades may rotate during use and may damage nearby blades.

According to the recall notice issued by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Hampton Bay 54-inch Mara indoor/outdoor fan was sold in stores and online from April to October this year, priced at approximately $150. It said that about 182,000 fans are sold in the United States and another 8,800 fans are sold in Canada.

The King of Fans is a product distributor in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, exclusively sold by Home Depot. The company stated that it has received 47 reports of the product̵

CPSC urges consumers to stop using fans immediately and check the fans for signs of defects. During the inspection, those who found “the blade movement or the gap between the blade and the fan body is not uniform” should contact the fan king for free replacement.

According to the company, this trouble did not affect all 54-inch Mara fans made in China. The company provided a link to a YouTube video that showed consumers how to determine if the fan is defective and needs to be replaced.

Consumers can contact the King of Fans by emailing MaraRecall@KingofFans.com from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm Eastern Standard Time, for replacement (866) 433-1291.
