The New York Rangers defeated the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 in overtime tonight. Before Mika Zibanejad finished the game overtime, Buffalo was able to tie the game with three seconds left.
The first phase

After finally regaining an 18-game losing streak just 24 hours ago, Sabre opened the game faster than ever. As a result, Buffalo jumped 1-0 within two minutes of the game. After Rasmus Dahlin scored a field goal, all three forwards knocked down Buffalo’s net, letting the crease breathe a sigh of relief. Colin Blackwell (9)-Artemiy Panarin (24) and Ryan Strome (23)-6:40
Following the numerous scoring opportunities in the offensive zone, the Rangers finally calmed down because Colin Blackwell scored his ninth goal of the season. New York was able to transition the puck into the neutral zone and rush back in another way at a speed of 2-1. Colin Blackwell (Arthury Panarin) made a perfect pass before attempting to cross the crossbar for the first time. The Rangers persisted in the game, the puck returned to Blackwell, and Blackwell slammed for a second chance from the left counterpoint.
Filip Chytil (7)-Julien Gauthier (6) & Alexis Lafrenière (6)-6:17
Six minutes after the start of the third quarter, the Rangers increased the pressure on the offensive zone and were able to force Buffalo to substitute. Jacob Trouba was able to jump over the fairway and bring the puck to the goal line before succumbing to Julien Gauthier. New York kept looking for loose pucks, and eventually popped up at the top of the crease. Filip Chytil was able to collect the loose puck and then flip it over to Dustin Tokarski, giving the Rangers a 2-1 lead in the game.
Tag Thompson (2)-Casey Mittelstadt (5) and Sam Reinhardt (10)-19:56
At the last moment of the game, the Sabres kept the game in the offensive zone with the goalkeeper pulling. Pavel Buchnevich (Pavel Buchnevich) tried to play a few games on the hockey, but could not find a way to clear the area. Casey Mittselstadt passed brilliantly into the middle of the ice and found that Tage Thompson had a wide shooting path. Thompson was able to volley in traffic and beat Igor Shesterkin to tie the game.
Mika Zibanejad (12)-Artemiy Panarin (25) & Adam Fox (27)-4:32
Both teams exchanged opportunities in additional opportunities, and the Rangers finally seized the opportunity in less than a minute. Adam Fox was able to force a turnover on the blue line and quickly turned the puck into a 2-on-1 steal. Artemiy Panarin was able to attract a defensive player and quickly passed the pass to Mika Zibanejad. Zibanejad will definitely use enough space to hammer a timer and defeat Tokarski to win the New York championship in overtime.
Given the current state of Buffalo, this game may be much closer than needed. The Sabres won their first victory in 18 games, so it’s no surprise that they have a little extra energy tonight. Fortunately, the wanderer was able to overcome adversity and escape through the second point provided by Mika Zibanejad. After defeating Sabres tonight, the Rangers will be able to recover one day, and then resume again on Saturday night.
