Houston -According to the Houston police, a 22-year-old pregnant woman was killed in a shooting incident in West Houston.
HPD said that shootings occurred near Wilcrest and Richmond Ave around 12:37 in the evening.
Brian Evans of the Houston Homicide Command said: “We are not sure if there is any dispute, but there are reports that these people may have been in contact before the shooting.”
Officials said the suspect followed the victim and fired a shot at the car. The bullet passed through the back of the vehicle and entered the back of the victim.
Evans said: “I don’t think he knew he had hit someone in the car.”
The police said that the victim was pregnant. She and the baby died at the scene.
“Our understanding is that there is an HPD officer here. They actually observed the vehicle behind. Therefore, I believe they are actually here. They heard the shooting and returned to the station. They approached the vehicle to assess her presence. Whether there was a reaction in the vehicle, but once the transportation about her from outside the vehicle to the sidewalk disappeared, no one announced that she was dead anymore.
KPRC 2 talked to Loretta Romo, who said it was the grandmother of the victim.
“She is cute. You can’t explain anything to her because she is always smiling. She loves life and has just started enjoying life. She is becoming independent,” Romo said.
The police said that there were three other people in the car, including the victim’s boyfriend, a child and another person. According to the police, the child is the one-year-old son of the victim.
The police said they did not call the shooting. They also said that the victim and the suspect did not know each other.
The police said they are beginning the process of withdrawing surveillance cameras from the area.
Police said the suspect fled the scene in a dark two-door coupe.
