Philadelphia police chasing carjacking suspects through city streets

After two carjackings Thursday night, Philadelphia police arrested a suspect who led officers through the city streets in a wild, high-speed chase.

It happened at 8:40pm on Broad Street and Erie Avenue.

Police said that when the suspect entered the car and took off with his family while still indoors, the delivery driver of City View Pizza was delivering the goods with his wife and two children aged 4 and 2.

At around 10:30 in the evening, the safety of the family was found on 21st Street and Spring Garden Street, but the police said the suspect hijacked another car and led the police to chase it across the city.

The suspect tried to avoid the officer with the 6th machete above his head. At one point during the hunt, the suspect led the police straight to the parking lot of the Philadelphia Police Headquarters on Race Street.

The suspect was arrested in Franklin Square Park after 1

1pm. He has not yet been confirmed.

There were no reports of injuries.
