Kansas City, Missouri-Two days after being cleared from the NFL’s concussion record, Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to another Super Bowl.
Mahomes led the Chiefs from an early 9-0 error back to defeating Buffalo Bills 38-24 at Arrowhead Stadium in the AFC Championship on Sunday night. The Chiefs will try to win the second consecutive NFL championship with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in two weeks in the Super Bowl LV game in Tampa, Florida.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid said of Mahomes: “I am an old guy who has seen quarterbacks, and this guy seems to surprise me every game.” He is proud of the way he handles everything….He is closely related to the team. He works hard and does things the right way. This is vital to the longevity and success of his career and to him. The Kansas City Chiefs, now clearly the Super Bowl .”
Mahomes defeated the Cleveland Browns in the divisional game last week and suffered a concussion, and was not approved to fight Bills until Friday. He also entered the game with a toe injury. He showed no impact, reaching 29 of 38 goals for 325 yards and 38 touchdowns.
Reid said: “He stays active. Whether it’s toes or head… He’s working hard.”
After experiencing an early deficit, the Chiefs lost their lead by 21 consecutive points and they will not give up. This is their fourth consecutive playoff game, scoring at least 21 points in a row, including their Super Bowl LIV victory over the San Francisco 49ers last year.
This comeback is the most impressive. The Bill has won eight straight victories, including seven games with at least seven points.
But the Chiefs’ response included their two longest appearances of the season, one of which was a 71-yard pass from Mahomes to Tyreek Hill.
The Chiefs lost the left flank to steal Eric Fisher in the fourth quarter due to Achilles’ injury and the injury of Charger’s L’Jarius Sneed (L’Jarius Sneed). (Eric Fisher), the latter entered the concussion plan.
