The Overwatch Anniversary event that leaked yesterday is now official. Beginning on May 22 and running until June 11, Blizzard will celebrate Overwatch's second birthday with more than 50 new items, including eight new legendary and three epic skins, new dance emotes and a brand new deathmatch card called Petra. Deathmatch also receives a new "Competitive Mode" for the anniversary event, complete with placement matches, skill rating levels and leaderboards.

With the new comes the old: cosmetics and dance Emote from last year's anniversary event will also be returning, as well as earlier seasonal brawls, including those in Overwatch: Archives, the rotate daily through the arcade. All previous seasonal loot items will be added to the loot boxes during the event, and anyone signing into Overwatch during the 2nd anniversary celebration will receive a free bag box for the legendary anniversary.
And of course there will be a free weekend. From May 25 to 28, Overwatch will be able to play for free on all platforms. The complete lineup of Heroes is available to all on all 18 maps in Quick Play, Custom Games and Arcade. Any progress made during the free weekend will be transferred to the full game if you decide to buy it. Speaking of which, Blizzard will release a new Overwatch Legendary Edition on May 22, featuring Legendary, Epic and Origin skins.
