Houston – The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office report stated that the United Airlines flight to Houston was diverted to Alexandria International Airport after reports of explosive devices on board.
Officials said that at 12:24 in the afternoon, the sheriff’s office received a call from the reported emergency incident of the incoming plane.
The representatives said that the flight was en route from Jackson, Mississippi to Houston, and was then transferred to Louisiana. The representatives said that the plane landed safely and the passengers got off the plane.
According to the Associated Press, a passenger Megan Cox (Megann Cox) told KALB-TV that they were in the air when the crew announced that they would stop unexpectedly in Alexandria. She said that the plane was parked on the tarmac, the power was off, including air circulation.

Through the coordinated efforts of our law enforcement partners, especially the Louisiana State Police, Rapids Parish Sheriff’s Office, Traffic Safety Administration, US Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana We are pleased to report that this does not pose a threat to public safety, and that all air passengers who have diverted routes have gone to their destinations.”
United Airlines issued the following written statement:
“Commuter Airlines Flight 4344 is a joint express flight from Jackson, Mississippi to Houston. Due to customer-related safety issues, the flight was diverted to Alexandria, Louisiana. The plane landed safely and is under further investigation. The authorities received.”
