Less than six months after launching the RTX 3000 series GPUs for desktops, Nvidia introduced the RTX 3060, RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 to gaming laptops. With its new Ampere architecture and significant performance improvements compared to previous RTX 2000 series notebooks, Nvidia is expected to significantly improve energy efficiency here.
On January 26, more than 70 gaming laptops will be used with the new RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 mobile GPUs, and the RTX 3060 laptop will be available on February 2. The RTX 3060 model starts at $999.
Nvidia claims that the RTX 3060 laptop is 1.3 times more expensive than the PS5, starting at $999. RTX 3070 laptops start at $1,299, and Nvidia says they are 1.5 times faster than previous RTX 2070 systems and can provide 90fps at 1440p.
The RTX 3080 laptop starts at $1,999 and can contain up to 16GB of GDDR6 memory, which is more than the RTX 3080 desktop GPU. Nvidia claims that these laptops will provide speeds exceeding 100fps at 1440p.
These laptops use the third-generation Nvidia Max-Q. The Max-Q variant is designed for thinner and lighter gaming laptops, aiming to compress most of the GPU functions from RTX 3000 series cards into a more restrictive chassis. Nvidia and notebook computer manufacturers adjusted the drives and thermal and electrical components to achieve this goal.
Nvidia said that the latest generation of Max-Q notebook computers will provide twice the performance of the previous generation. Nvidia uses the new Dynamic Boost 2.0 technology in these laptops, which uses artificial intelligence to balance the power between the CPU, GPU and GPU memory. It works on a per frame basis, which means that the laptop can balance its power requirements in real time.
These RTX 3080 laptops should also be powerful enough to handle the demanding Microsoft Flight Simulator. In today’s CES keynote, Nvidia demonstrated the Razer Blade 15 that powers the complete Flight Simulator equipment.
Nvidia also introduced WhisperMode 2.0 in these RTX 3000 series notebooks. You will be able to choose different sound levels, and AI will manage the fan speed and game settings to maintain the desired sound level.
We hope to hear more about the new update of gaming laptops at CES 2021 from manufacturers soon. edge Announcement about all the latest gaming laptops.
