A viral photo of a futuristic house labeled “Putin’s House” in Sochi, Russia, circulated on social media, leading many people to mistakenly believe that it belongs to the Russian president.
In fact, the house is just the exterior design concept of Vladimir Putin’s house in the eyes of Russian architect Roman Vlasov.
According to Vlasov̵
Rendering is just a three-dimensional conceptual design, which does not actually exist in any physical location. Along with the post, Vlasov used #concept and #design hashtags to clarify that this is just a rendering, not a true depiction.
However, the futuristic design-containing a prominent structure and a flat roof located in a secluded forest-was recently reposted on social media, convincing viewers that it is actually Putin’s home.
Some people online compared the house with the villain layer in the James Bond movie, while others label the structure as an “evil” appearance. A social media claimed that the house is Putin’s house. The house was shared on April 3 and has received more than 9,000 likes and 1,600 reposts.
This viral photo comes months after Putin came under fire for accusing him of building a multi-billion-dollar “secret” mansion near Russia’s Black Sea.
In January of this year, Russian critic and opposition leader Alexei Navalny (Alexei Navalny) released a film through his Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), accusing Putin of using drone footage to interact with contractors. Interviews and publicly available documents and blueprint evidence to build this gorgeous building.
The film claimed that the property was worth $1.35 billion and that it was paid for through a corrupt plan in which Putin provided his allies with the highest positions and profitable government projects.
This 68-hectare (168-acre) estate is 39 times the size of Monaco and is equipped with a 190,500-square-foot mansion, including a theater, a casino, two helipads, a botanical garden and an underground ice rink. The movie has been viewed more than 87 million times online, prompting viewers to express surprise and indignation and make fun of them in the huge coastal palace.
Putin has since denied the allegations and said in January: “It is not shown in the film that my property belongs to me or my close relatives, and it has never been the case. It has never been.”
Navani is 44 years old and has been sentenced to prison since February when he was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for violating a previous sentence of probation for his conviction.
The Russian critic made an international fame in August after a poisoning that took off from Siberia. He was taken to Germany to recover and he later claimed that Putin had ordered the poisoning.
Putin, 68, has been in power in Russia for more than two decades. On Monday, he signed a controversial law that may allow him to remain president until 2036.
