After being retro in 2016, the OG “freshwater” color scheme of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 will return next year to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the model.
Air Griffey Max 1 was made famous in 1996 by “the kid” Ken Griffey. It is his daily cross-training style of cleats on diamonds. This shoe features a wavy black frosted upper with a white leather sole, ankle boot construction and a strong Nike brand strap that wraps the ankle. Tie this pair of shoes with Griffey’s Seattle Mariners (Seattle Mariners) line, which is the iconic “Freshwater”
Recently, the OG “Emerald” color scheme of Air Griffey Max 1 inspired the new Nike SB Dunk Mid.
As of now, the exact date of this pair of shoes has not been announced, but the arrival of official Nike product pictures indicates that it may drop earlier than later. The “freshwater” Nike Air Griffey Max 1 is expected to be released in early 2021.
Update (01/09): Official images of the “FreshWater” Nike Air Griffey Max 1 Retro have surfaced. According to DTLR’s release calendar, the shoes are scheduled to return on February 15th for $170.
