Nigerian military plane crashed on its way to Abuja Airport, killing seven people



“All seven people on board were killed in the crash,” Air Force Lieutenant Commander Ibikuhn Dara Mora said on Twitter.

He added that the Chief of Staff of the Air Force has ordered an immediate investigation into the incident.

Odadu said firefighters have been deployed to the scene to extinguish the raging fire that engulfed the plane.

An aviation worker who asked not to be named-due to lack of official permission to talk to the press-told CNN that he had witnessed the crash.

He said: “The crash occurred not far from the runway. The pilot tried to return to the runway after takeoff.”

The staff member said that the pilot transferred the plane to the crash site in the crash area. He said the plane narrowly avoided warehouses and temporary settlements near Nandi Azikwe International Airport.
