Dr. Anthony Fauci told CNN that the new guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for people who have been vaccinated should appear “soon.”
The White House’s chief medical adviser said on Tuesday that in light of the progress of the US vaccination program, he expects to issue less stringent guidance soon.
This update should “relax the strictness of the recommendations”, especially for people in the same family who have been vaccinated.
Fauci is not responsible for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, but has long been the core of the federal response to the pandemic.
The timetable for any new rules is unclear.
The clues about the upcoming guidance came when Fauci appeared on CNN’s “New Day” on Tuesday.
Host Alisyn Camerota asked whether people receiving full vaccination should be able to gather indoors with their families. He said he would personally be satisfied with the idea.
He said Fauci had a lot of discussions about this, some of which were “not very comfortable.”
He said his position is: “If I get adequate vaccination and my daughter enters the house, and she also gets adequate vaccination, do we really need to take strict public health measures? If it is a A stranger instead of a stranger, what measures will we take? Have been vaccinated?”
Fauci said that once the vaccine becomes part of the picture, “you don’t have to be so strict in public health measures” is “common sense.”
However, the CDC wants to “sit down, discuss it, look at the data, and then make recommendations based on science,” Caun said.
Fauci said on Monday that people receiving full vaccination should not eat indoors or go to theaters.
On the same day, New York State Governor Andy Cuomo said that the state’s theaters will open in March. Fauci said a better strategy is to wait until more people are vaccinated before waiting until autumn.
The CDC has begun to relax some regulations for people who are fully vaccinated. The agency said on February 11 that people receiving full vaccination do not have to follow the isolation rules.
