Netanyahu trial: Ministry of Defense may request to stop appealing testimony of Jesus

The second day of the public corruption trial conducted by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu began on Tuesday morning, with lawyers from the prosecution and defense fighting evidence in the Jerusalem District Court.

Lawyers defending Netanyahu, former Bezeq and Walla owners Shaul Elovitch and his wife Iris can ask the court to stop the entire public corruption trial until they can appeal to the High Court against the court’s decision Tuesday afternoon to support the prosecution. Testimony about Ilan Yeshua, former CEO of Walla.

Yeshua has been describing the background of the Bezeq-Walla 4000 case, which is the most serious of the three suspected public corruption cases in Netanyahu.

The allegation is that Netanyahu prefers Elovich’s Bezeq in his communication policy in exchange for positive coverage on Elovich’s Walla website.

The prosecution and the defense held a three-hour debate on Tuesday about whether Jesus should be allowed to speak the facts. This is not part of his police testimony, but the Jerusalem District Court rejected the defense̵

7;s argument.

The defense requested Yeshua to return to the police to make supplements before allowing him to continue to testify.

They said that there were too many new facts and surprises in the court that prevented them from correctly listening to the ongoing testimony and coordinating the defense.

The court accepted the prosecution’s argument and considered it unnecessary because it believed that his increase was not sufficient to change the basic thrust of its testimony.

During the exchange, the prosecution also accused the defense of trying to prevent Yeshua from testifying, which led to the defense’s severe condemnation.

In the end, Yeshua was allowed to continue to testify for the remainder of Tuesday, and the prosecution promised to avoid new factual issues until the defense decided to appeal to the High Court until Wednesday.

As of press time, the defense has not indicated whether it will appeal to the High Court. However, this also ruled out the possibility of requiring a three to four-week recess between the end of Jesus’ direct testimony and their opportunity for cross-examination.

The prosecution is expected to continue on Wednesday next Wednesday, and one or more hearings may be held from April 19th to 21st.

Yeshua testified on Monday that he and a senior editor had referred to Netanyahu as “Kin,” referring to North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

Yeshua said that he and Walla’s senior editor Avi Alkalai did so because they felt pressured to turn the report to Netanyahu.

“All the demands of politicians over 13 years may be equivalent to the demands of the prime minister and his wife for a week [over three years]”He said. Netanyahus said: “In addition, their requirements are not as strict as those here. “

Yeshua said he was facing an uprising in Walla and a revolving door of the editor left to protest.

Walla’s strongest personality, Yinon Magal, once asked Jesus, “What is the damn thing we are doing here?” He threatened to go directly to Natanyahu, Let him give up the request to expand the scope of the report.
