At the end of the 20th century, NASA launched the “Near-Earth Objects Program” to find and track the motion of celestial bodies whose orbits can bring celestial bodies close to our planet. To date, the space agency has discovered about 25,000 NEOs.
Ladies and gentlemen, don’t be too comfortable, because we have not yet completed our mission in 2020…an asteroid as big as Big Ben will fly over the earth next week, Daily Star According to NASA reports. According to the space agency, the celestial body named 2020 TGI is traveling our planet at a tremendous speed of 8.5 miles per second (30,708 Mph or nearly 50,000 kilometers per hour). NASA said that the width of this asteroid may be between 43 and 100 meters, making it the largest celestial body orbiting our planet.
In 2020, TGI belongs to the most dangerous asteroid category-Apollo, which means that its orbit will intersect the orbit of our planet. But NASA says it will safely bypass our planet 7,027,201 miles. In December, an unusual asteroid called 2020 SO will visit Earth, which is classified as a “potentially dangerous” object. One of NASA’s leading experts, Paul Chodas, suggested that the object may actually be fragments of a NASA rocket launched to the moon in 1966.
