Mother welcomes the sheriff's deputy to help save the life of the unresponsive baby in Ocala, Florida

Deputy Jeremie Nix of Marion County, Florida, Sheriff's Office was in the right place at the right time on Wednesday when he drove home from his shift. According to CBS affiliate WKMG-TV, Nix is held responsible for rescuing a troubled three-month-old child when he took it to the hospital.

The incident was intercepted on the Dashcam video by Nix's Cruiser. He was knocked down by a desperate mother at a crossroads and he jumped in to help the baby.

"You can tell he's completely lifeless," Nix told WKMG-TV. "She just hands him to me and the first words out of her mouth were, 'Do not let my baby die.'"

Nix tried to revive the kid named Kingston, and he took a breath, but it was weak, writes WKMG-TV. Nix had sparked for an ambulance, but he could not wait.

"I did not have time," Nix said. "This baby did not have time to wait for an ambulance."

So Nix told the mother, Nechole Cromwell, to follow him when he took it upon himself to drive the child to the hospital. He used his siren en route to the Ocala Regional Medical Center.

It is expected that Kingston will fully recover.

"In my 1

7 years doing this job, this was the scariest, emotional, and rewarding day ever," said Nix. "I remember praying and thanking God for bringing me to the right place at the right time for the right reason."

Cromwell thanked Nix and God in a Facebook post on Thursday.

"I just wanted the world to know how big this officer is, & how GREAT GOD is," she wrote. "Not all officers are bad, he is one of many good guys."
