The Ministry of Health said that more than 600,000 British citizens have received the coronavirus vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech Pharmaceuticals.
“Thank you NHS for their great efforts [National Health Service] To overcome major logistical challenges, 616,933 people across the UK were vaccinated against the coronavirus.
More than 521,000 people in England were vaccinated, more than 56,000 in Scotland, more than 22,000 in Wales, and more than 16,000 in Northern Ireland.
The department added: “In the coming weeks and months, as the available doses increase and the plan continues to expand, the vaccination rate will increase and more vaccines will be sent directly to nursing homes.”
Last week, the United Kingdom discovered a new variant of the coronavirus, which has a transmission capacity 70% higher than other SARS-CoV-2 strains. After media reports, many countries in the world closed their borders and stopped travel to the UK.
