Everyone has the mother of a friend who is just so fantastic, you wish they were yours. Maybe you joke about it and call it "Mom" from time to time. Maybe you even hung out one-on-one with her if your friend was not there. Maybe you even kidnapped your girlfriend so that you could be the only object of her mother's affection. No? Too far? Well, that's the plan of Lifetime's Newest Thriller, Mommy Be Mine . Just in time for Mother's Day, Mommy Be Mine will premiere on May 11 at 8pm. ET. But is Mommy Be Mine a true story? Well, I certainly do not hope so, and Lifetime has not hinted that it did.
According to the official Lifetime Summary Mommy Be Mine tells the story of Cara (played by Sierra Pond), a dark and mysterious teenager who will stop at nothing to replace the lost mother. Arianne Zucker plays as a mother figure Lianne, the new object of Cara's misplaced affection. Ava Locklear, the daughter of Melrose Place star Heather Locklear, plays Lianne's missing daughter Summer.
If similar events have occurred to those in Mommy Be Mine it must be pure coincidence. And hopefully this scenario will not really play in reality. But this is not the first time that Lifetime has explored the theme of the demonic children and / or monster mothers raising them. Here are five more Lifetime Movies exploring the insane ways mother-child relationships can go wrong. So grab your mother (or your friend's mother) and watch.
The title says pretty much everything with this. According to the summary, Killer Mom tells the story of a mother who reconnects with the daughter, who released her after adoption of the girl's adoptive mother. Unfortunately, the new mother turns out to be a bad murderer. Maddy Martin plays the 14-year-old Allison, and Karen Cliche plays her intriguing biological mother. Fortunately, Killer Mom is not a true story either.
. 2 The Other Mother
Basically the worst nightmare of all divorced families, The Other Mother dramatizes the plight of a divorced father who remarries a woman who marries everything in does its power push the original mother out of the picture. Also no true story, The other mother randomly shares her name with another TV movie based on true events . The Other Mother: The Moment of Truth is based on the autobiography of Carol Schaefer, and the book and film narrate her real search for the son she has released for adoption.
. 3 Mommy's Prison Secret
Part of the Flood of Mother-Mother Movies from Last Year, Mommy's Prison Secret is just as messed up as it was then. Kelli Williams plays Taylor Reynolds, a normal suburban mother who has just spent three years in prison for drug possession and a DUI. Think about the prison Nancy Botwin, but only during the really dramatic scenes. Taylor is trying to return to her old life, but her prison history will no longer be closed after her ex-cellmate knocks.
. 4 Psycho In-Laws
Who does not love the old evil in-laws? Lifetime does it with Psycho In-Law with Catherine Dyer as the bad mother Joyce and Katie Leclerc as the daughter-in-law trying to escape her madness. Fortunately, it does not sound as if there is a truth here as well.
. 5 Mommy's Secret
Like [Mummy's Prison Secret] Mommy's Secret is also about a mother outside the law. According to IMDB, Charisma Carpenter plays Buffy and Angel Anne Harding, the seemingly normal suburban mother who resorts to bank robbery to pay off her family's debts. It's not a prequel to Mommy's Prison Secret but I bet the two would mate well as a dual feature.
If you want to pass on the mushy stuff, this Mother's Day, lifetime, has Mommy Be Mine plus a back catalog of thrillers with mother's theme.
