A man who refused to conduct a temperature check in Disney Springs was arrested and told the authorities that he could not be told to leave because he spent $15,000 on vacation.
A police report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department showed that Kelly Sills, a tourist from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, bypassed a medical examination at an Orlando attraction in February and refused to take his temperature at the request of Disney employees. Check.
Recently released body camera footage shows that Sears refused to leave at the request of law enforcement.
“I spent $15,000 to get here,” an official who told him by a representative told him that he was officially considered an illegal trespass. According to a police report, a representative of Disney Springs and a safety manager have approached Sears outside the houseboat restaurant.
According to the report, Hilles allegedly quarreled with the safety manager and yelled at him, who then told him that he was “no longer welcome in the park today.”
A woman can be heard asking the police not to arrest Sears in the body camera footage.
“He is not listening,” a man replied. “All he has to do is check the temperature. That’s it.”
At another point in the video, Sears asked if the authorities could take his temperature before forcing him to leave. According to NBC affiliate WFLA, some people responded that they would go to jail. On another point, Hills also claimed to be a shareholder of Disney.
According to court records, Keir pleaded not guilty to the leapfrog charge of misdemeanor. His lawyer, Michael Zmijewski, declined to comment to NBC News on Sunday.
