The rules of the Cannes Film Festival state that women must wear heels and "no flats" at gala premieres, while men have to wear a black tie.
After Cannes jury member Stewart Montagabend passed the first bank of photographers, she cut herself off the heels and walked into the premier with the shoes in her hands.

"It has become really obvious that if (a man and me) walked the red carpet together and someone stopped me and said," Excuse me, young lady, you do not wear heels.
