After being trumped by Russell Crowe's stunt, the "Last Week Tonight" host bid farewell, right?
Is it over? For real?
John Oliver scared his fans on Sunday night after finishing a section on Last Week Tonight and announcing that he was "ready" after seeing his "only goal" for the show, that of a "koala chlamydia ward."
The rather unusual achievement came after actor Russell Crowe surpassed the comedian by donating part of the proceeds of his recent divorce auction, namely the $ 7,000 Oliver paid for the jockstrap Cinderella Man and then donated at the only surviving blockbuster video rental stores in America.
Crowe was touched by Oliver's stunt and responded in the same way, tweeting a specially crafted video of the Irwins unveiling the John Oliver Koala Chlamydia Station at the famed Australia Zoo
Inspiring that he would never have a medical emergency room to treat koala Oliver would continue to pack the set and say "goodbye forever" to the studio audience and everyone at home. His departure was so serious that some wondered if it was real.
Watch the video and Crowes tweets below.
I had a Eureka moment to use @iamjohnoliver from @LastWeekTonight auction money. His chance act of kindness will be honored in such a cool way.
Yes, no surprise, it will affect wildlife. @rickygervais @jimjefferies @jimmycarr @edsheeran @edwina_b
