Iran’s top security official said the United States is encouraging ISIS by dropping bombs on paramilitary fighters along the Iraqi border.
Ali Shamkhani, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, said during a visit to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hussein: “The recent US actions have strengthened and expanded the activities of the terrorist Dais (Islamic State) in the region. “
Late Thursday, President Biden launched his first airstrike, targeting locations on the Syrian side of the Iraq-Syrian border, where Iran-backed groups control important weapons, personnel, and cargo crossing points. The US government said that they intend to prevent US forces from launching attacks in Iraq.
According to Reuters, Hussein said: “The attack on the anti-terrorist resistance force is the beginning of a new round of organized terrorism.”
Shamkani said: “We will face the US plan to revive terrorism in the region,” but did not elaborate.
According to reports, Shamkani also forced Hussein to force Iran to ask the United States to withdraw its remaining troops in the country.
