Intelligence agencies say Russia secretly provided bounty for Afghan militants to kill US forces

Some officials believe that the Russians may be avenging the NATO forces and hope to participate in the battle in Syria in 2018. In this battle, the US military killed hundreds of pro-Syrian forces, including numerous Russian mercenaries, who were advancing at the US outpost. Officials also hinted that the Russians may have been trying to disrupt peace talks in order to plunge the US into Afghanistan. But the motivation is still vague.

Officials on the matter were informed that the government had assessed the operation as a handicraft of the 29155 unit, which is a Russian military intelligence agency (widely known as the GRU unit and Sergei in Salisbury, England, in March 201

8 Skripal (former GRU) nerve agent poisoning. The officer and his daughter who had worked for the British intelligence service before defecting.

Western intelligence officials say the department, which has been in operation for more than a decade, has been accused by the Kremlin of carrying out a campaign to destabilize the West through subversion, destruction and assassination. In addition to the poisoning incident in 2018, the force was behind the attempted coup in Montenegro in 2016 and the poisoning incident of a Bulgarian weapons manufacturer a year ago.

US intelligence officials said G.R.U. was the center of Moscow’s secret intervention in the 2016 presidential election. US officials said that in the months before the election, there were two governors. The network units were called 26165 and 74455, they invaded the Democratic Party’s servers, and then used WikiLeaks to post embarrassing internal communications.

To some extent, because these efforts are designed to help tilt the election and gain Trump’s favor, his handling of issues related to Russia and Putin has received special scrutiny. A special counsel investigation found that the Trump campaign welcomed Russian intervention and is expected to benefit from it. However, there was insufficient evidence to prove that his associate had any criminal conspiracy with Moscow.

Operations involving 29155 troops are more violent than those involving cyber forces. Its officers often serve as military veterans for many years, and in some cases can be traced back to the Soviet Union’s defeat in the Afghanistan War in the 1980s. The department has never been accused of planning an attack on Western soldiers, but officials briefed on its actions said the force has been active in Afghanistan for many years.

Although Russia declared the Taliban a terrorist organization in 2003, the relationship between them has been heating up in recent years. Taliban officials have traveled to Moscow to conduct peace talks with other prominent Afghans, including former President Hamid Karzai. The negotiations exclude representatives of the current government of Afghanistan and anyone in the United States, and sometimes they seem to be fighting the United States’ efforts to end the conflict.
