After Messenger and WhatsApp, Facebook now also brings payments on Instagram. We've found several reports about Facebook testing to bring the payment functionality to Instagram in the past. After a long testing process, the feature is slowly being made available to users. Above all, Facebook wants to use the Snapcash function of Snapchat with Instagram payments, with which users can also shop in the app. With the payment feature of Instagram, users can now shop without having to leave the app. The Instagram payment feature is currently only available to select users, but we expect the global rollout to occur very soon, most likely in the next few months.
According to reports, the Instagram payment feature is only available for selection users in the US and the UK currently. With the payment feature, Insta users can save their payment information, such as debit or credit card details, and buy products directly from the Instagram app. Users no longer need to leave Instagram to make a purchase. The introduction of the payment function was also confirmed by Instagram. An Instagram spokesperson confirmed to TechCrunch that the payment feature for booking appointments such as restaurants or salons is now available to a limited number of partners.
Resy is a restaurant app that is the first partner of Instagram and the payment option includes its Instagram page. Customers can go straight to Resy's Instagram page to reserve a table. You can also make the payment for the booked table via Instagram. However, it is currently reported that the payment feature is only available to some Resy customers.
To use the payment feature, Instagram users can view the settings in the app and add their card details. Instagram's payment feature not only allows users to add their debit or credit card details, but also tracks past payments within the app itself. Users can also set up an authentication PIN for added security. An option for the Payments option was reportedly added to the Instagram Options list for selected users only.

WhatsApp has payment functionality, but is very different from Instagram Payments. Insta payments are not as varied as WhatsApp. The "Insta Payments" function allows users to shop directly in the profile of the brands. WhatsApp Payments do much more than that. It allows users to transfer money to bank accounts and also to pay for goods and services bought offline.
In the coming days, Instagram will introduce the payment function for booking movie tickets. This means that users can book movie tickets through the Instagram app. All users need only visit the specific Insta page of each film and click on the payment option
